Self Affirmations: Robert Dilts, one of the worlds leading experts in the area of leadership thinking and NLP, discovered there are three fundamental beliefs that are common to all high achievers when they set goals.
Simply stated they are:
- 'I want this goal'.
- 'This goal is possible.' and
- 'I deserve this goal'.
These beliefs were not necessarily stated by the high achievers when they spoke about the goals they had set themselves but they were all present in their thinking.
They were present in their thinking when the goal was large.They were also there when the goal was tiny.
How can you benefit from knowing this?
It's easy. Whenever you set a goal you should take time to check that you also hold these beliefs. That your thinking models the effective thinking of successful high achievers. So, for each of your smart or smartAr goals just ask yourself:
- Do I really want this goal?
- Do I think this goal is really possible?
- Do I think I deserve this goal?
If you answer 'yes' to each then you are off to a great start.
If you answer 'no' then go back to step one of your smart or smartAr goal and rethink what it is you really want.
